350+ word part 2 thingy
I’m honestly not sure where to start on this project, and it isn’t due to my opinion of the options being limited. It’s the fact that the ideas we are supposed to figure out a plan of action for were shut down by Margie herself. Included in this is more advertising. She said during presentations that they already spend $50,000/year on the Fargo Forum alone. This would lead one to believe that advertising that costs any money at all would not be feasible. The only idea here is advertising differently, however, with the theatre not offering anything different as far as services go it’ll be nearly impossible to attract students to come. The problem here is that people are seemingly afraid of change. More advertising is, in my opinion, a pure waste of money and time. Students are not going to come if there isn’t something they are interested in going on. The idea of a student coupon bringing in students is also unrealistic. Offering buy 5 movies get one free isn’t going to make people want to come. You could offer a lot of the things at the Fargo Theatre for free to students and they still wouldn’t come simply because they are uninterested. I do agree that a slogan of some sort or two different identities such as mentioned in my proposal would be beneficial, however, what slogan are we going to implement? Do people really think that giving a slogan to something that isn’t attractive will suddenly make people want to come? Given the option to advertise more, I suggest that we advertise different things to do at the theatre that have not been offered in the past because advertising current events is obviously not working. In summary, I’d like to say that the options given to us with this limits us immensely. Basically, this is just an attempt to put a bandage on what is going to become a bigger problem. In the end, one must realize that if there isn’t any change within the events themselves, there won’t be any success to be had. This is why I suggest that advertising different events would be the best way to do things. In addition, it would help public relations and word of mouth advertising if the idea is popular.
